Local Transportation (airport to campus)

The Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport's WWW site (www.mspairport.com) has a page (www.mspairport.com/parking/t rans.html) on local transportation, including Taxi, Airport Express van service, and Metro Transit buses. Here is some supplementary information collected by conference co-organizer Dave Witte. This information comes with no guarantee, so it would be prudent to confirm before relying on any of it. Please report any errors or omissions to dwitte@math.okstate.edu.

Taxi (612-726-5877)

Cab fare from the airport to the campus area is likely to be about $25.

Airport Express (612-827-777)

Pay the driver ($10 one way or $16.50 round trip). Reservations are not needed from the airport.

This van service leaves the airport every 15-20 minutes every day from 6am to midnight (including Sundays and holidays). The trip to the campus area is likely to take about 40 minutes, but it depends on how many stops have to be made.

The van only stops at hotels (including the Days Inn) and hospitals, so participants staying in the Centennial Hall dormitory should get off at the Radisson Hotel Metrodome, cross Washington Ave SE, and walk about a block along Harvard St. SE or Walnut St. SE to the dorm (see map at http://www1.umn.edu/tc/maps/Ce nH/small.gif). (Perhaps an exception can be made if a few people in the same van all want to go to the dorm.)

Metro Transit (612-373-3333)

www.metrotransit.org www.metrocouncil.org/tra nsit/airptbus.htm

The fare is $1 or $1.50 (the higher fare is during rush hour).
Be sure to ask for a (free) TRANSFER when you board the bus.
The trip from airport to campus area should take 60-75 minutes, depending on the wait to transfer.

There are two options. For participants staying in the dorm, the first involves a much shorter walk.

  1. Take St Paul #4 bus to Snelling & University. Click here for map of bus route.
Transfer to #16A heading west ("to Minneapolis"). Click here for map of bus route.
  2. Take Minneapolis #7 bus to Cedar & Washington (downtown). Click here for map of bus route.
Transfer to any #16 heading east. Click here for map of bus route.

The #4 bus leaves the airport about once an hour from about 6:30am to midnight. Clic k here for schedule.
The #7 leaves the airport every 30-60 minutes from about 4:15am to midnight. Click here for schedule.
The #16 buses run about every 10-15 minutes during the day and less frequently at off hours, until about 1am. Cli ck here for schedule.

Schedules for the #4 and the #7 should be posted at the airport, near the bus stop.
