but it *should* say
                let   |.| , ||.||   \in   N(V)

The error has been fixed, but you might need to refresh and clear
cache to see the new version.

subject:	Hints for HW#8-1,8-2,8-3

The arguments for HW # 8-1, 8-2 and 8-3 involve some bookkeeping, as
far as I can tell.

I attach some hints, but keep in mind that these are just suggestions.
If you find a better way to do some of these problems, I'll be
interested to see. Let me know if you have any questions.

subject:	Another HW correction

Once again, there's a flaw in one of the HW problems: In 3-3, I forgot
to put in the assumption that     alpha(p) = gamma(p).

I've made the correction, but, as usual, you should clear cache and
refresh your browser.

So you now know both that       alpha(p) = gamma(p)
                              and that     alpha'(p) = q = gamma'(p) .

Once again, sorry if this has caused confusion.

From now on, I'll try to write up solution before I assign the
problem. That should help in catching these typos. (Of course, I won't
post the solutions until after HW are collected.)

subject:	Typo in HW 1-1 online

Hi,

I found out during office hours yesterday, that at
   http://www-users.math.umn.edu/~adams005/MATH4604/homeworkMATH4604S18.pdf
the last line of HW 1-1 had a mistake. The implies arrow needed to be
changed to "and".

I think it was stated correctly in class, and it's now fixed online,
but you might need to clear cache and/or refresh your browser to see
the new online version.
