Summer Representation Theory Seminar

I will talk about representations of finite groups where the characteristic of the field does divide the order of the group. We lose semisimplicity here but the group algebra still is a special kind of algebra. Some of the properties over characteristic zero generalizes to the modular case, for example there is a character theory (due to Brauer) which no longer detects everything like the semisimple case, but still useful. I will end with an application of Brauer characters to the usual character theory. |
