Semisimple algebras

Andrew Hardt

Abstract

A semisimple algebra is an algebra for which every representation is completely reducible. We prove Maschke's Theorem, which says that every group algebra of a finite group is semisimple, and then look at some basic results on semisimple algebras such as Schur's Lemma and the Artin-Wedderburn Theorem.
