Introduction to Quasi-Cluster Algebras

Kayla Wright

University of Minnesota

Abstract

In the Fall, Chris told you about cluster algebras. We will be looking at a simple generalization of cluster algebras from surfaces called quasi-cluster algebras! Quasi does not mean scary! These quasi-cluster algebras are defined on non-orientable surfaces and there are a ton of open questions to ponder about them! In this talk, I will also describe my first research mentoring experience and talk about how to choose problems for students that may not have a lot of background! My collaborators are Veronique Bazier-Matte (a post-doc at UConn), and three high school students: Linda He, Laurie Luo and Ruiyan Huang.
