Homoclinic Phenomena for Orbits Doubly Asymptotic to an Invariant Three-Sphere

Note.  Invariant three spheres foliated by periodic orbits arise in classical mechanical systems with three degrees of freedom. The existence of orbits that are asymptotic to the invariant sphere both forward and backward in time can give rise to interesting behavior in nearby orbits.
