Invariance

Definition: A set Inv1.jpg is called positively invariant if Inv2.jpg . It is called invariant if Inv3.jpg .

Note that if Inv4.jpg is positively invariant, so is Inv5.jpg . The following question arises. Does the invariance of Inv6.jpg imply the invariance of Inv7.jpg ? If Inv8.jpg is a homeomorphism, then the answer is "yes". The answer is also "yes" if Inv9.jpg is compact or if Inv10.jpg is compact. However, the answer in general is "no" .
