Some Metric Properties of Attractors with Applications to Computer Simulations of Dynamical Systems

Richard McGehee

report (1988)

Abstract.  Attractors for continuous maps on locally compact metric spaces are studied. The notion of the intensity of an attractor is introduced. It is shown that the intensity is a measure of the robustness of the attractor when subject to perturbations of the map.
