Syllabus for Math 1572 H --- Spring 2005

 

Description:

This is the second semester of IT Honors calculus. Topics include applications of integration, introductory differential equations, parametric plane curves, infinite sequences and series, vectors and curves and surfaces in space. In addition, we will have time to cover some additional topics, including an introduction to discrete-time dynamical systems.

Text:

Calculus, Early Transcendentals, 5e, by Stewart. This is the same book as last semester. As noted above, I will cover some topics which are not in the text.

Grades:

Homework / Quizzes 20 %
Midterm Exams (20 % each) 40 %
Final Exam 40 %

All exams will be open book, open notes, calculators allowed.

Exam Dates:

 Midterm I Tuesday, February 22
 Midterm II Tuesday, April 5
 Final Monday, May 9, 1:30-4:30

Labs:

We will have at least one computer lab session to try out software for integration, solving differential equations, etc.
