Purpose:These problems aren't assigned,
and there won't be any test questions exclusively focused on this material.
Nonetheless, working these problems (or reviewing them
if they're in your notebook from Math 3113 ... )
could provide helpful background for dealing with some of
the chapter 7 problems. Indeed, in the equiprobable model,
we often end up with a formula that says something like this:
p([given event]) =
(# of outcomes in which this event happens)
/ (total # of outcomes)
