Topics: I will cover the introductory material on orthogonal polynomials on the real line. We will discuss the general combinatorial theory of paths behind it all, and then discuss the classical othogonal polynomials. Other topics will be discussed, such as q-versions, electrostatics, discriminants, indeterminate moment problems, and the toda lattice, and other material from our textbook. I hope to cover topics from Chapters 2-6, 9, 11,13-18, 21 or 22.

Grading and Exams: Each student will either present a paper or turn in correct solutions to an appropriate number of homework problems.
