Reading: Shastri:     Sections 3.7 and 4.1, skipping 4.1.14-4.1.20.

Exercises: Shastri, 2nd edition:   3.9.4 and 4.1.24(ii).

Exercise C: (i) Find the fundamental group of the punctured torus, i.e., the torus minus a point.
(ii) Using the Seifert-van Kampen theorem, give a new computation of the fundamental group of the real projective plane, representing it as the disk with the antipodal points of the boundary identified.

Exercise D: Prove the exactness of the sequence in Lemma 4.1.8 at Coker f '.

Exercise E: Prove Corollary 4.1.11 without using the Four and Five lemmas.
