Reading: Shastri:     Sections 2.2 and 2.3.

Exercises: Shastri, 2nd edition:   Remark 2.2.3 (c), Exercises 2.2.23 (In Part (ii) the space X should be assumed Hausdorff and the existence of a partition of unity subordinate to the covering should also be assumed), 2.11.7.

Exercise A: Compute the fundamental group of the complex projective space CPn, n ≥ 0. You may use the identification of the fundamental groups of all n-spheres, n ≥ 0, as known.

Exercise B: Show that every CW complex is Hausdorff.
